Tim’s career started over 25 years ago when he joined the local authority near his home town of Watford as an IT trainee. In the years that followed, he fulfilled a variety of increasingly complex IT related roles which included specifying, procuring and managing an outsourced IT managed services contract to ensure IT facilities were delivered to the business through clearly defined service level agreements. During this time, Tim also managed the implementation of a new suite of business applications for the Authority and led the IT aspects of creating one of the first multi-functional customer service centres in the UK.
One of the most complex and high profile projects Tim was involved in during his career in local government was when he led the IT element of an innovative project to implement shared services across three local authorities in Hertfordshire. This included designing and building an in-house team to support the three partner organisations.
Following a spell as a Head of IT and Customer Services at a large district council, Tim decided to turn his attention to delivering consultancy assignments in the local government and housing sectors. These have been wide ranging and have included digital transformation projects, IT strategy development, service reviews, specification & selection of services and programme management. He has also delivered Interim Head of IT and service delivery roles to several housing associations.
As well as supporting organisations on their strategic IT journeys, Tim also works closely with business application providers to understand their product roadmaps and how their software can help organisations on their digital journeys. Tim has also spoken at industry events and has trained teams on subjects such as Data Protection / GDPR and Cyber Security risk awareness.
